When I think of Tahiti, it is of my friends that I have made over the years. This is a portrait of Stephen, Joel's cousin, who is carrying a tari parau after the performance by "Te Poe O Patitifa". The dance group had just finished their show at a crafts fair in a town called Pirae during the Heiva I Tahiti. This was the first of many trips to French Polynesia. |

Tiare was a well known Kumu Hula back in the days of the 1970's to 1990's. She was a very accomplished teacher and knowledgeable in Hawaiian, Tahitian, New Zealand, & Philippine dance. Unfortunately she died of bone cancer at the age of 47 years young. Now, Tiare lives in all of us whose lives she touched.
